This is the portfolio of Sophie Perry NCTJ, BA(Hons), PGCert, MA .

Sophie is an award-winning journalist, doctoral researcher at City St Georges, University of London and the founder of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network, a first-of-its-kind community for LGBTQ+ journalists in the UK.

Sophie is passionate about her work as a journalist.

She is fully trained in media law, public affairs and ethics, with skills in video creation, SEO, social media and shorthand.

Key career highlights so far include reporting on Queen Elizabeth’s funeral live from outside Westminster Abbey, being ‘rescued’ from a mock sinking car by the fire service, covering a women’s festival on the island of Lesvos and interviewing leading politicians in parliament.

Sophie is the founder of the LGBTQ+ Journalism Network, a first-of-its-kind network aimed at providing advice, support and community to LGBTQ+ journalists across the UK.

Sophie is an award-winning journalist who has been honoured for her work to improve equality, diversity and inclusion in the industry.

Sophie has been invited to speak at several events including conferences, panels and workshops.

She has discussed issues of equality, diversity and inclusion in journalism and PR, as well as LGBTQ+ representation and safety and resilience.
